This Privacy Policy describes how Opinionage collects, uses and discloses your personal identifying information, your contents and other personal data (the "Content").

This Policy is part of and incorporated into the Opinionage Terms of Service (collectively, the "Terms").

Opinionage receives your information through our web site, APIs, applications and third-parties (collectively, the "Service"). When using our Service you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure and other uses of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.


Content We Collect

1. Information you provide to us

About yourself. When you create or modify an Opinionage account, you provide some personal information, such as your username, password and email address. You may provide us with additional information, such as your name, gender, birthdate, a short biography, your current city, hometown, family, education, relationships, activities, interests, places or a picture.

About your networks. We offer contact importer tools to help you upload your friends' addresses so that you can find the members of your networks (e.g. Facebook, Google+) on Opinionage, and invite your contacts who do not have Opinionage accounts to join. If you give us your password to retrieve those contacts, we will not store your password after you have uploaded your contacts' information.

Your content. Our Service are designed to help you share opinions with the world. Most of the information you provide to us is information you are asking us to make "public". This includes: the Topics you create, the comments you post, the files you upload. Our default is to make the Content you provide "public". Your public information is broadly and instantly disseminated therefore you should be careful about all information that will be made public by Opinionage, not just your Topics.

Your votes. You can vote your own Topics and other users' Topics only once, you can eventually change your vote. The default privacy policy for your vote is "private" but we provide you settings to make the vote "public"

2. Information we collect while you use the Service

Access device and browser information. When you access and use the service our servers automatically record information such as your IP address, browser type, the referring domain, pages visited, and search terms.

Service usage data. We keep track of some of the actions you take such as creating a Topic, answering, commenting or adding links to other users' Topics, follow a user, a Topic, a tag or a category.

Cookies. We use "cookies" (small data files that are transferred to your computer's hard disk) to better understand how you interact with our Service, to monitor aggregate usage by our users and web traffic routing on our Services, and to improve your usage experience of the Service. Most Internet browsers automatically accept cookies. You can instruct your browser, by editing its options, to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from the websites you visit.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

This section explains how your privacy settings work, and how your information is shared on Opinionage. You should always consider your privacy settings before sharing information on Opinionage.

Contact Information. Your contact information settings control who can contact you on Opinionage, and who can see your contact information such as your email and phone number(s). Remember that none of this information is required except for your email address.

Personal Information. Opinionage encourages you to complete your profile as much as possible with personal information. You can edit your profile to add, modify, delete and hide all (or part) of your personal information from other users.

Content by You. On Opinionage, you can post new topics and comments to existing topics and you can upload files to better illustrate your views. The default privacy setting for the Content you post on Opinionage is set to "public".

Links to Other Websites. Our Site contains links to other websites. The fact that we link to a website is not an endorsement, authorization or representation of our affiliation with that third party. We do not exercise control over third party websites. These other websites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personally identifiable information from you. Other sites follow different rules regarding the use or disclosure of the personally identifiable information you submit to them. We encourage you to read the privacy policies or statements of the other websites you visit.

"Public" Content. Content set to "public" is publicly available information. Such information may, for example, be accessed by everyone on the Internet (including people not logged into Opinionage), be indexed by third party search engines, and be imported, exported, distributed, and redistributed by us and others without privacy limitations. Such information may also be associated with you, even outside of Opinionage, such as on public search engines. The default privacy setting for the Content you post on Opinionage is set to "public".

Your votes. The default privacy setting for your votes is set to "private". We provide you with tools to make your votes "public".

Other. Here are some other things to remember:

Law and Harm

We may disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Opinionage's rights or property.

Business Transfers

In the event that Opinionage is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The promises in this privacy policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.

Our Policy Towards Children

Our Service is not directed to people under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child's account.

Changes

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of the policy will govern our use of your information and will always be on Opinionage.com. If we make a change to this policy that, in our sole discretion, is material, we will notify you. By continuing to access or use the Services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
